One Life, A Second Chance
Developing healthy lifestyle behaviours is very important for those who have suffered a heart event and those at risk. Heart Support's training DVD was designed to assist heart patients across the country, in cardiac rehabilitation units and for those individuals who do not have access to cardiac rehabilitation, in rural and remote areas. This project will train up to 2,500 Heart Support members to assist heart patients in their recovery. The DVD will be available for all heart patients at no cost.
This grant from Fosters will enable us to bring all our facilitators to a central training venue to ensure consistency in training and content. These facilitators, all heart patients themselves, who have lived this program, will be able to deliver the program and offer long term assistance to those who require help in developing healthy lifestyle behaviours – Kerri Buzza, Heart Support Australia.

OzHarvest
The OzHarvest program collects excess food from hospitality venues and fresh food markets and delivers it, free of charge, to organisations that feed disadvantaged men, women and children in the ACT and nearby Queanbeyan. OzHarvest provides the ACT region with the "missing link" between excess food and those who are hungry.
The Foster’s Community Grant is a fundamental component in helping OzHarvest to bridge the gap between surplus and need. Every day in Canberra many kilos of high quality, nutritious food is thrown away while, elsewhere, people go hungry. The Foster’s Community Grant has given OzHarvest a huge boost not only financially but also in terms of confidence to go forward - Maureen Cane, CEO.

Catalyst - Clemente Program
Catalyst-Clemente uses higher education in the humanities, delivered in a community setting, to engage with people who are disadvantaged, involving a partnership between a university, community organisations and a range of external supporters. Subjects taught are all fully accredited by the university and are in areas such as history, literature, ethics and art. Humanities subjects are used to empower disadvantaged people to think about and reflect on the world in which they live. In turn, this intellectual engagement can promote a broader re-engagement with society, and assist them to eventually exit the cycle of poverty.
By supporting Mission Australia’s Catalyst-Clemente program in NSW and VIC, Foster’s in the Community is helping us to transform the lives of homeless men and women – this program provides an example of how people who face challenging lives can envisage new possibilities for themselves whilst promoting social inclusion and participation.
