Beringer Vineyards

Established in 1876 by Frederick and Jacob Beringer, Beringer Vineyards celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2001 and continues today with a tradition of winemaking excellence in the Napa Valley.  As our flagship California brand, Beringer Vineyards has emerged as a name synonymous with quality and excellence, and is known among connoisseurs for its highly acclaimed Chardonnays, Cabernet Sauvignons and Merlots.

Beringer has won two Wine Spectator "Wine of the Year" awards - the first in 1990 for the 1986 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and the second in 1996, for the 1994 Private Reserve Chardonnay.  It is the only winery to have had both a red and white wine named "Wine of the Year" by this influential magazine, and enjoys the honor of historically having more wines placed on the publication's "Top 100" list.

Beringer also produces the company's largest selling product in the U.S., California White Zinfandel, which has enjoyed the largest dollar sales of any wine in U.S. food stores for over five years.

In 2000, Beringer completed the rollout of a new line of super-premium wines, Beringer Founders' Estate, which has quickly become one of the best-selling lines of super-premium wines in the U.S. In 2001, the winery introduced Stone Cellars by Beringer, a line of varietal wines priced at $6 to $8 a bottle.

Winemaster Ed Sbragia oversees the winemaking at Beringer Vineyards.  One of the most respected winemakers in California, Ed joined Beringer in 1976.
